Swipe Out Hunger

Sodexo, Swipe Out Hunger, and Brandeis University are partnering to fight student food insecurity. Sodexo has provided meals to establish a Meal Swipe Bank for food-insecure students. Students may request swipes by using the Swipe Out Meal Request Form. Once meal swipes are distributed from the Meal Swipe Bank to those students’ id cards, those meals can be redeemed simply by swiping in at Sherman or Lower Usdan dining halls.
Any Brandeis student experiencing food insecurity is eligible for this program.
Within two business days after the request is approved, the requested number of meal swipes will be added to the student's Brandeis ID and they will receive an email from Swipe Out Hunger letting them know their meal swipes are available to use
Once the student completes the meal swipe request form, the meal swipe request is reviewed and awarded as determined by the Emergency Funds Committee. The committee is comprised of Brandeis staff members who work in various student-facing departments within Brandeis University. All requests are confidential.
Students can request donated meal swipes as often as they need, up to 25 meal swipes per semester.
A meal swipe can be used in Sherman and Lower Usdan dining halls. Meal swipes awarded through Swipe Out Hunger will not carry over to the next semester.
Unfortunately, Brandeis does not have the resources to support students with meals during the break periods when the university is closed because Brandeis Dining is not operating during that time. The City of Waltham lists local resources to address this need on their website here.
